For the first Great Unknown Artist in a long time, I present Scrappy Hamilton. Their website is www.scrappyhamilton.com. If you have ever seen the movie Cabin Fever you might remember one of their songs. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any of their songs online, so all I can give you is the website.
Mozilla Firefox

Recently, we added a link to the Mozilla Firefox home page. What it is, is an alternative to Internet Explorer and Netscape. Although it is great for other things, it does not agree with Xanga. If you decide to get Mozilla Firefox, keep whatever other internet access you have, because Mozilla Firefox "screws up" the look and feel of Xangas when you access them through Mozilla Firefox. I have both Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer, which is the safest bet for Xangans.

Although nice comments are good, they do not spread the word of this music site, which makes it grow. So I would like to say thanks for all of the subscriptions we have. As we approach 230, there is something I need to say. Subscribing is good (AND KEEP DOING IT!), but voting helps a lot, too. And it is no more than two clicks to vote! Also, if you do not have all of your blogring spots taken and you like our music, why not join our blogring? THANKS FOR EVERYTHING AND REMEMBER TO VOTE, OR ELSE NO MORE REQUESTS WILL BE MET! Ever since the day this site began (well, maybe that's a bit of an exxageration, but since only a few days after this site began), we have been getting great reviews from Xangans like you. Last Friday I saw Ben Folds in concert. The opening artist was Corn Mo. He was very strange, if I do say so myself. His songs were about everything from urinating to The Book of Esther. Don't be confused though, this is not Meat Loaf or Gary Busy. www.cornmo.com
The Great Unknown Artist

Last week there was no Great Unknown Artist, but this week I have two. The one for last week is Townhall, a local band in Philadelphia. I am not sure if they have a website, but here is a Google search for them. The second band is called The Mountain Goats. I will be adding one of their albums soon. A website devoted to them (I am not sure if it is theirs) is www.themountaingoats.net.
Arrested Musical Development

I would first like to apologize for not doing many requests recently, but this week has been very hectic for most people working with the website. We have been busy expanding, while also working on our own lives. I am just warning you now that the website will probably be like this until JUNE WHEN WE ARE SHUTTING THE SITE DOWN UNTIL LATE AUGUST OR EARLY SEPTEMBER. Thank you for your patience, and during that time we will not be taking requests obviously and will make it so you cannot comment.

First of all, happy Mother's Day. Now, onto business. Since this website is expanding so much, I would like to announce that we are "hiring" people. Since the current workers on this site are so consumed by adding music, requests, making icons, the rest of this site, and our own lives, it would make it much easier and efficient if there were a few other people making icons. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE WILL SOON BE MAKING LAYOUTS! Since we are so busy and cannot make very diverse layouts, it would also be good if we had at least one more person (than the two we already have, one of which can make diverse layouts) to make them. For the icons, they could only be ones involving bands or music that are on our site (any instrument is okay). To donate them to us, host them (make sure they won't expire) and give us the URL. You can use www.tinypic.com for that. If we like them, we will post them. For the layouts, we will contact you about what we want in it, and then you will tell us what the sample xanga it is on is. An International Audience

It has recently come to my attention that we here at The Great Unknown Artists have a very diverse audience. In the last hour we have had visitors from Greenland, Iceland, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, the Orient, the Mideast, Australia, all over the US, and maybe even South America! In light of this, I would like to welcome everyone in several languages.

I have also changed the bottom part of the website (the thing that scrolls along the bottom) to include different languages. I could not put on any with different characters than English, but I replaced them with other languages.
Multitasking Website

Although it seems that our website is doing a lot (music, codes, soundtracks, requests, and more), we have really not done enough. Now, in the Random/Weird section, we have icons! Keep in mind that this will not be a regular occurrence, but you can still request artists that you would like to see in an icon. If you have a picture with a URL of that artist, donate the URL, and we can make an icon. Thank you, and remember to vote and join the blogring and subscribe!

A couple of days ago, I told you that if we do not get to a certain position on the voting sites (CreateBlog and TooPowerful), then I would move all the music to another, private site that only the owners of our site could access. Well, we reached our goal and our happy to announce that we will keep taking requests and keep adding great music! We hope to reach other spots as well so keep on voting!! Read the paragraphs above, if you didn't already. It gives you more information.

Since so many people have been asking me about my cursor, I would like to say that the code for it is listed at a few of my "Reliable Code Sources." (I am not exactly sure which one, but I think codes________x3 has it.) If I have time, then I will find the code and post it in the "Codes" entry. What's in a Name?

This xanga is about to live up to its name. Every week, I will be announcing a new band that is not very well known and/ or local. I will try to get some of their music (many times I might not be able to. Whether or not I find music, I will try to find their website or a website about them. This week the band is JUPITER SUNRISE. I could not find any music of theirs that I am able to put on a xanga. Their MySpace website is www.myspace.com/jupitersunrise. The band's official website is www.jupitersunrise.net. For all of you Ben Folds fans out there, look at the band's inspirations on the left hand side of the website. Who could one of them be?

Sadly, a modern and alternative rock station from my hometown of Philadelphia has been taken off the air and replaced with "The Beat." It is a rap station that is the same as every other radio station in Philadelphia. As the Y100 team says, "Do you want Philly to be the largest city in the US without an alternative rock station?" If you want to support good music (i.e., Dave Matthews Band, Taking Back Sunday, Modest Mouse, and many others on and off my site), go to www.Y100Rocks.com and sign the petition.
